Falkirk Tryst Orchestra’s popular autumn charity concert next Friday has an intriguing title – The Dancing Beat.
Conductor Bob Tait explained: “Since FTO began we have always added to our collection of music associated with dance.
“Even in the sacred works of Handel and Bach dance music can be detected. It is quite possible to perform a Canadian Barn Dance to For Unto us a Child is Born from Handel’s, Messiah.
The concert programme includes Suite No1 of Handel’s Water Music.
Many of the items will bring back memories of past times and, hopefully, get the toes tapping, with everything from sand dancers to eightsome reels.”
Bob added: “It is a great pleasure to welcome back some of the young dancers from the Stenhouse School of Dance with their director, Irene Langlands, to perform tableaus with the accompaniment of the orchestra.”
The concert on Friday, October 9 is in aid of Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre. Tickets priced £9 (conc. £7, students £3) are available at the Steeple Box Office (01324 506850) or pay at the door.
