Schools in the Falkirk area are using big screen movie magic to help inspire the imagination of pupils.

Part of Game on Scotland’s official education programme for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Into Film Scotland has launched an ambitious and exciting initiative which aims to put film at the heart of learning and development for children and young people.

Supported by the British Film Institute, Into Film’s ‘See, Think, Make. Imagine’ programme allows five to 19-year-olds to engage with film critically and creatively inside and outside the classroom.

It will also empower more teachers to use film as a learning tool across the curriculum.

Bonnybridge Primary School is one of the schools about to take advantage of the new learning opportunity and pupils already have their own film club which meets three lunchtimes a week.

Deputy head teacher Andrew Watson said: “We use a lot of clips from movies to help with reading texts and to support our learning. The films help engage the interest of our pupils.”
