This weekend Falkirk will play host to a musical celebration to coincide with Rod Stewart playing Falkirk Stadium.

Falkirk Rocks from today (Thursday) to Sunday will see 40 acts perform in 16 venues and give a welcome break from World Cup fever.

Highlights include Rock the Talk young band event at City nightclub on Thursday evening, an acoustic music trail around Falkirk on Friday, live music at Grangemouth Bandstand on Saturday afternoon and folk band Anderson, McGinty, Webster and Fisher on Sunday in Behind the Wall.

The event organised by Falkirk BID is a music extravaganza with genres including punk, rock, folk and pop covered.

Musician Adam Donaldson helped piece the programme together, he says he’s looking forward to Rock the Talk.

“The four bands involved are all under 18 and show incredible talent. It’s rare to get to see really young musicians on stage and Rising Pacific are tipped to go far - so see them while you can.

“The acoustic trail is great for fans of stripped back music and Grangemouth Bandstand will be buzzing. I’m pleased with the line up - the festival showcases local bands and local businesses.”
