Morgan Milne (16), who attends the specialist dance academy at the secondary school, is preparing to enter the MGA’s three year HND programme after her skills impressed staff at an audition.

Since Morgan was a toddler she has performed with several local groups including the Bernadette Sloan School of Dance and Jazz Art UK in Motherwell.

She was attracted to the MGA’s reputation for providing training at the same standard as the top performance colleges in London.

Morgan, who now lives in Cumbernauld, said: “The MGA Academy looked like it could take me further and give me a better opportunity in dance. “It looked like it could give me what London could give me, but I get to stay in Scotland and move to Edinburgh.

“I think it will be hard, but once I get there I’ll really enjoy it and being there will make me want to work harder.

“I’m really excited by the opportunities at the MGA Academy, such as the trip to New York.

“I have now got what I wanted,” added Morgan, who previously attended Greenfaulds High School and Woodlands Primary in Cumbernauld.

“When I opened the acceptance letter I felt really proud of myself and like all my hard work had paid off. I’ve always wanted to be a dancer.”

The MGA Academy of Performing Arts is hosting an open day on February 11 and will hold auditions for aspiring students on March 13.
