Organisers make alternative plans for Falkirk's 2020 Christmas events

Christmas merrymakers in Falkirk can expect “something a bit different” from the traditional reindeer parade and lights switch-on this year, organisers say.

Falkirk Delivers, the town’s business improvement district (BID), is planning to hold an alternative celebration in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

Large crowds turned out for last year’s public festive gatherings and although social distancing restrictions have impacted the original plan, the BID team is working in the background to come up with suitable and, crucially, safe replacement events.

The details have still to be ironed out and made public, however, organisers are eager to put on a new-look version for the town to be proud of when Santa stops by.

Elaine Grant, Falkirk Delivers manager, told The Falkirk Herald: “At the moment, plans are under way for an alternative to our BID lights switch-on and parade.

“The plan is to come up with something a bit different.”
