Music fans primed and ready for new release from Falkirk’s top rock trio

Not knowing how long they would be able to make music together in these uncertain times, the three-piece, Ollie Kitchen (vocals/bass), Sarah Monteith-Skelton (guitar/vocals) and Reece Ryan (drums/vocals), frantically set up their mics, guitars and drums in the studio and ploughed into the recording process with a work ethic that would make The Beatles look like lazy blighters.

Sarah said: “It actually worked out perfectly for us. When the restrictions were lifted earlier in the year we actually had the studio booked for that time. We were going in to record another sung, but none of us liked it all that much.

“We wrote Shangri-La just before going into the studio and recorded that instead.”

The single, which is available to download from all the top digital sources from Friday, November 13, is about exploding the myth Shangri-La.

Sarah said: “Shangri-La is an imaginary paradise, heaven on earth and the fulfilment of our wildest fantasies. As the saying goes, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

“The song explores the truth behind the fairy tale and the reality is that some people unfortunately don’t have a happily ever after. Life can be tough – it can beat you down and its not always rainbows and butterflies.

“What makes us keep going? It’s hope. Hope the future holds something better and It’s exactly within those moments that life becomes exciting, interesting and makes the good times even sweeter.”

Primes have certainly experienced a few ups and downs this year – 2020 was going to see them strutting their stuff at Vibration Festival and Party in the Palace before the COVID-19 pandemic pulled the plug on all live music as we once knew it.

A year earlier they rocked out in front of hundreds of fans at the very same Vibration Festival and Party at the Palace, playing their very own self-composed crowd pleasers like Don’t Forget Your Memories, Breathe, Together Forever, Haunted and Bodies.

However, the band has soldiered on and released one of their most successful songs – Moment – earlier in the year.

"It’s been tough,” said Sarah. “We’ve not really been able to get together and play. We’ve had a lot of Zoom calls with this single coming out and Ollie and I have been able to chat in the back garden.”She added: “We were meant to be play a lot of festivals this year, but the good thing is we have been carried over for next year’s Vibration and Party at the Palace.”

Although they will not be playing together live for the time being, Primes have recorded music video performances which will feature in a couple of online music festivals before the end of the year – including the Frontline Festival on November 30.
