Linlithgow's Party at the Palace has been cancelled

Organisers of a two day music festival in Linlithgow this summer have made the decision to cancel the event.

Party at the Palace is the latest event to be hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

It had been due to take place on the banks of Linlithgow Loch on August 8 and 9.

However, John Richardson, event director confirmed in a post on social media on Monday night that this year’s event will no longer be going ahead.

And in a fuller post on its Facebook page this morning (Tuesday) organisers said the decision had been taken with a “heavy heart”.

The statement said: “Our priority has always been ensuring that Party at The Palace is a safe, family-friendly event and sadly this can’t be guaranteed under the current restrictions. We had hoped that the situation would improve and allow the event to continue however this hasn’t happened.”

It has been announced the event will be back in 2021, taking place on Saturday, August 7 and Sunday, August 8.

Organisers are now offering ticket holders two options – their ticket will automatically transfer to the 2021 event or they can request a refund from their point of purchase. Full details on both options and what you need to do can be found on the Party at the Palace Facebook page.

This year would have been the seventh year of the festival with acts including the Manic Street Preachers, OMD, Hot Dub Time Machine, Toploader, Space and The Brand New Heavies due to entertain the crowds.

The statement added: “We appreciate that music festivals are not a priority at present and we sincerely hope that you all stay safe. When the time comes, we can come together for a proper, well deserved party.

Finally, thank you for continuing to support Party at The Palace. We are grateful to all our customers, our suppliers and all of the acts and bands for the support shown to us.”
