Falkirk Tryst Festival goes online to entertain the masses

Chairman of Falkirk Tryst Festival Bill McDonald said: “We have had to cancel our ten day Tryst Festival due to the current pandemic situation. This is a pity for all the groups taking part who have been rehearsing so hard for their event.
“To try and help, our secretary Jamie O’Rourke has come up with this idea if any group would like to showcase their work it can be appreciated by everyone. We will get through this current crisis and we can start planning for the future.”

Hide AdTomorrow sees the Falkirk Writers’ Circle present Words and Music and a concert from Falkirk multi-instrumentalist Andrew Dougall, while Wednesday features a ceramic sculpture demonstration in the afternoon from artist Susan Wade and an evening performance from Sunny Stars, showcasing talents of their young members through short fairytale themed videos.
Thursday brings music aplenty with an online Falkirk Folk Session, while Friday has a creative chat with Zoe Thomson and Jamie O’Rourke, members and trustees of Falkirk Arts Network, talking about the current situation facing creative and performing arts individuals and organisations.
Later in the evening Andrew Sharp will be going live on Facebook to perform great great songs and fiddle tunes and Central Scotland Ballet School will present an exclusive video of their performance of Peter Pan from a 2019 dance display.
Central Scotland Ballet School return on Saturday, presenting a video of their short ballet Annie which they performed at the festival a couple of years ago. Then Jamie O’Rourke will present spoken word performances live streamed on his Facebook page at night.

Hide AdAn evening of musical entertainment ends this special online festival on Sunday with a virtual concert from Falkirk Tryst Orchestra and footage of a stonking Tonkerers’ gig recorded in The Callendar Arms last year.
