Christmas Miracle trail at Rough Castle postponed until 2021

An organisation which planned to create a festive illumination trail at a Falkirk district attraction has had to postpone the event.

Last month, Rough Castle Experiences outlined its vision for A Christmas Miracle at the historical site, near Tamfourhill.

However, last night it confirmed the 1.4-kilometre-long route will not open due to the Scottish Government’s introduction of coronavirus protection levels.

The attraction was set to run from December 10-24 and include support from street food providers, Big Feed and theme park M&D’s.

A Facebook statement read: “The Scottish Government had originally classified our event as a visitor attraction with all the individual elements associated with A Christmas Miracle included, but the introduction of the level systems revisited that classification.

“After a number of consultations with various government and public sector organisations it was decided that M&D’s Funfair could not operate as part of A Christmas Miracle unless our area was reduced to Level 1, and we are now of the belief that we are not going to get to Level 1 before Christmas.

“We investigated delivering you an event with the illumination trail and food elements, still providing you all with at least something to look forward to, but then A Christmas Miracle started to look like a different event and not the one we had promised or advertised.

“With that in mind and the ever-changing guidelines, we have taken the sad and difficult decision to postpone our event until Christmas 2021.

“To have to do this just three weeks before our launch date is truly heartbreaking for our staff and contractors who were all desperate for a miracle for our industries and businesses.

“The restrictions, limitations and ever-changing guidance has made our event impossible to deliver in a form which we would find acceptable.

“We promised a full ticket refund in the event of cancellation and we will honour that promise, but if you can, please stick with us by rolling your ticket over to next year.

“By doing so you are keeping a small local business trading and all the contractors and partners that we work with ticking over too.”

Tickets will be rolled over to 2021 if submissions aren’t made before November 30.
