Watch the BBC '“ Bunyan Basketball Channel

The basketball player will feature as part of a new TV deal struck by the BBC.

It will include screening matches from the British Basketball league on the TV channels’ red button service and online.

And matches will include the Glasgow Rocks, where Bunyan plays at point guard alongside another homegrown talent Kieron Achara.

In total 32 games will be shown throughout the basketball season 2016-17 including matches from the Molten WBBL.

Barbara Slater, Director of BBC Sport said, “We are particularly excited about the opportunity that basketball affords as a sport with a digitally savvy audience.”

The games will include all three showpiece finals including the 2017 British Basketball Cup Finals at the Barclaycard Arena on Sunday, January 15, the 2017 British Basketball Trophy Finals at the Emirates Arena on Sunday, March 19 and the 2017 British Basketball Play-Off Finals at The 02.

“This is a tremendous boost for not only the BBL and WBBL, but the sport as a whole,” stated BBL &WBBL Commercial Director, Bob Hope.

“It’s fantastic that we can take the momentum and potential which was showcased at the Molten Play-Off Finals and turn it into something special with 64 hours of basketball content on BBC platforms – live and free-to-air worldwide.

“We are particularly delighted to be able to work with a partner as distinguished as BBC Sport and, importantly, this is not only about broadcasting live games, but collaborating to develop digital content more broadly.

“We hope that both existing basketball fans and many new fans waiting out there will love having such accessibility to the great, action-packed sport which is basketball.”

Bunyan began his career locally at Falkirk-based Sony Centre Fury before moving to the pro-team in Glasgow.

Achara has had two spells with Fury and with the Rocks and starred for Team GB at the 2012 Olympic Games.
