Falkirk’s Charlotte McKenzie is in the running to be ‘Up and Coming Scottish Sportsperson’.
The swimmer - who was one of the FH Sport 100 - is one of five nominees for the prize at the Scottish Variety Awards Dinner in Glasgow on March 22.
McKenzie is a member is the F.I.R.S.T swim team which is supported by Falkirk Community Trust and Falkirk Otters ACS and is a backstroke specialist.
The 17-year old is coached by Steven Tigg at FIRST won silver at the FINA World Junior Championships in Dubai last year as part of the 4x100m medley relay team and has made an excellent start to 2014 with a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke at the Flanders Speedo Cup.
When she made the shortlist last month, she said: “This is such a huge honour for me and I’m thrilled that my efforts in the pool are being recognised. I’d now love for the swimming community to get behind me and vote!
“Everything is about making the team for Glasgow this summer and I’m working really hard in training to make sure I do everything I can to get the result I want at the Trials in April.”
Voting closes at midnight on next Friday (March 7) - and everyone who votes will be entered into a draw to win a pair of tickets at Capital FM’s table on the night.
