RUGBY fans are looking forward to some early season fireworks after Falkirk Rugby club released their fixtures for the first half of the season.
The schedule takes the Sunnysiders up to Guy Fawkes’ night with 11 matches.
After pre-season is completed, Falkirk begin their 2011/12 campaign at Stewart’s-Melville’s Inverleith ground in Edinburgh.
West of Scotland are the first league visitors to the officially opened Sunnyside pitches, followed by two further home games with Hillhead/Jordanhill and Selkirk.
The Sunnysiders play each club only once before the break, and part two of the season involves the controversial league split system where the top two leagues split into three competitive groups.
President Alex McQuade was critical of the set-up last term, and said: “It is here for this season again.
“However there will be another change in structure next season that has been discussed.
“We can’t complain about how the fixtures have fallen – they’ve been quite kind to us with six home games and three on the trot early on.”
Talks are ongoing with some additional players to join Bob Wyllie’s team before the big kick-off.
