Wins for Junior teams and rugby sides put a gloss on the weekend’s sporting activities.

Camelon and Falkirk Juniors were both victorious and Dunipace avoided defeat to record a successful weekend for the local junior teams.

Their efforts were matched by Falkirk RFC and both Grangemouth rugby teams who also recorded victories.

Only Stenhousemuir and East Stirlingshire were defeated in the Ramsdens Cup - with Falkirk being inactive after being eliminated by Rangers in the previous round.

The Bairns did play though, going down 3-1 to Rangers in a closed-doors game at Ibrox where Lyle Taylor scored from the spot.

The SHire lost 2-1 at home to Cowdenbeath, while the Warriors had John Gemmell sent off in a 1-0 reverse at Arbroath.

However, closer to home Grangemouth beat Stirling University at Glensburgh and Falkirk RFC defeated Greenock at Sunnyside.

In football locally, Camelon won 3-1 against Scottish Cup entrants Bonnyrigg at Carmuirs Park, and Falkirk Juniors finally kicks-tarted their season witha 2-0 win at Blackburn.

Dunipace drew 2-2 at Lanark.

Other results included a 1-0 win for Linlithgow Rose at Broxburn, and Lochee United holding Bo’ness United 2-2.
