Seonaid McIntosh wins gold at World Championships

McIntosh won gold at the World Shooting Championships which have been taking place in, Changwon, South Korea.

Seonaid, of Shieldhill, held her nerve, hitting a perfect 10.9 with her final shot to win the gold medal by 0.2 points ahead of Germany’s Isabella Straub and Slovakia’s Pesk Demjen.

Jennifer McIntosh, Seonaid’s sister, also competed in the event, finishing seven points behind her sister in 26th place.

The pair competed together for Great Britain in the team event, picking up a bronze on Tuesday.

Seonaid is vastly experienced, despite being just 22 years old, and has represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.

Earlier this year, McIntosh won two bronze medals in Australia.

The daughter of four times Commonwealth medallist Shirley McIntosh was born in Edinburgh, but grew up in Shieldhill.

Coached by dad Donald, the 22-year-old trains at the Alloa and district club and will be welcomed home a hero.
