Bo’ness Rugby Club ‘Pedal for Doddie’
The club are pulling together their collective daily walking, running and cycling distances to cover the length between all six of the Guinness Six Nations stadiums to raise funds for the Scottish legend’s MND charity.
When it came to the stage where they had to cross the Irish Sea and English Channel, one member came up with creative idea of using pedalos to cover that distance.
Around 35-40 individuals turned out over the day, including players and club officials, as well as special guest former Scotland internationals Alex Moore, Iwan Tukalo and Sean Lineen, as well as Bruce Aitchison of Scrum Magazine and the Happiness is Eggshaped blog.
Overall, the event raised £700, meaning the total funds raised have nearly hit the £3000 mark.
Event organiser Mark MacDonald, who plays for the club, said: “I’d like to say a big thanks to everyone who took part.
“Also thanks to Mortgage Help, who provided funding for insurance, A view from my camera for the photos, Asda Grangemouth who provided food and The Helix for allowing us to use the site for free.
“That’s us passed the Aviva Stadium now so are in the final stretch with just 300-400 miles or so left to go.”
