West District Cricket League matches suspended as Stenhousemuir continue to play friendlies
With Glasgow remaining in level-three Covid regulations, all West District league matches have been suspended as teams there cannot travel to matches outwith the city.
Likewise, teams in level-two areas cannot travel into Glasgow.
An arrangement has been made that matches between sides in level two can go ahead but be played as friendlies.
That was probably just as well for LocHire Stenhousemuir last Saturday as they were bowled out for 71 by East Kilbride at Torrance House, but the game did not count for league points.
Only Callum Grant, with 21, made any impression with the bat.
East Kilbride knocked off their runs for the loss of only one wicket, taken by Sohail Thakur.
The 2nd XI fared much better against 2nd East Kilbride at the Tryst. East Kilbride were bowled out for 102.
Campbell McKay took four wickets, Sankap Chougule two and Peter Quinn, Joe Chalmers and Chris Dyer one each.
Stenhousemuir chased down the runs very comfortably, losing only three wickets as they reached 104. Brian Townsend made 36 not out and Adam Hunter 33 not out.
With all West League fixtures being suspended again this week end, LocHire Stenhousemuir should meet Helensburgh in a friendly at the Tryst on Saturday and Aberdeen Grammar at the Tryst on Sunday in the first round of the Challenge Cup.
LocHire Stenhousemuir 71 – East Kilbride 77 for 1. 2nd East Kilbride 102 (C McKay 4 for 9; S Chougule 2 for 8) – 2nd Stenhousemuir 104 for 3 ( BTownsend 36*; A Hunter 32*).
