Falkirk primary school pupils have a ball in local Jump2It basketball competition at Grangemouth

Pupils from 16 teams took to the court at Grangemouth Sports Complex last week and battled out the Falkirk JUMP2IT Finals – and Bonnybridge Primary emerged successful as number one seed.

Runners-up on the day were Maddiston Primary, with St Patrick’s of Denny in third ahead of Deanburn Primary from Bo’ness in the final fourth spot.

Earlier this season, eight schools in the Falkirk area had seen visits from the professional players of the Glasgow Rocks and had presentations in health and nutrition as well as basketball.

Each school had two teams in the Falkirk final, making 16 teams and 160 players taking part in the programme.

Fury’s US star Makaleb McInnis presented the four teams who reached the Final Four with their winning certificates.

The Finals, to decide the Falkirk Champion, will be played at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on Sunday – March 8 – the same day as the Glasgow Rocks BBL game against Worcester Wolves.

The long-running Jump2It programme is run by Scottish Sports Futures in partnership with the local Falkirk Fury Basketball Club and Falkirk Community Trust Sports Development.
