Fury moved to a quick 28-2 lead before finishing the first period at 28-4 and then moved 30 points clear at 37-7 in the second period. While Fury took all four quarters, the home side worked hard throughout to keep the game at 35 points overall.

On the win, Fury’s head coach John Bunyan hailed the youthful nature of his team, saying: “I am pleased we have started the season well and in this game there was great team chemistry on show, something that will be key during the season.

"We have been working hard on our initial shape in offence and playing multiple styles of defence to suit what is a very strong group of players, each with something a little different.

"Our younger players came into the game and really excelled at both ends of the floor, namely Jack Shand, Harvey Berry, Finlay Hendry and Andrew Melville. It is important to us that we have that younger element to our side and they bring energy to the team.

"Bantu (Burroughs) was getting back to the top of his game in terms of his ball handling and execution with Murray (Hendry) as always got the fans on their feet with some spectacular dunks.”

This Friday at Grangemouth Sports Complex now sees Fury host St Mirren in a table-topping clash that will likely prove crucial in deciding where the title goes this term. Tip off is at the earlier time of 7.45pm.

Ahead of that one, Bunyan gave an update on the senior squad: “The game on Friday will be a sell out. Our matches against St Mirren are historically very competitive with some of the best players in the country on show.“We have now got FIBA clearance for a very important addition to our team in Ammar Mohhamed and I am looking forward to his contribution going forward.

"He shoots the three and is a fast athletic ball handler who works very hard on defence. He has already put up big numbers for Stirling University and excelled in training.

"We have also had one of our former key players back training with us in double BBL winner Ali Fraser, who is looking to return to the Scottish game after serious injury issues.”
