Athletics: Falkirk Victoria Harriers dazzle at East District Championships earning 15-medal haul

There were a number of podium places for individuals in the club and four gaining the title East District Champion in their respective events.
On Saturday, under-17 star Laura Taylor got the day off to a great start for the Vics, winning a bronze medal for the 80m hurdles in 12.58.

Hide AdLuke Sedman and Ben Upfold (under-15s) took silver and bronze medals for the 800m boys race in 2:10.97 and 2:19.32 respectively, with those runs personal bests for both runners.
In the under-17 800m men’s race, Luke Culliton took gold in 1:57.29 and Callum Hendry earned silver and a new personal best in 1:58.93.
Kirsty Moffat won silver for the 100m under-13 girls’ race in 14.06.
Noah Anderson won silver in under-17 men’s discus for his 29.95m throw while Evan Wilson won bronze for his 20.04.

Hide AdIn shot putt, Noah Anderson took bronze for his 8.98 5kg best throw.
To conclude Saturday’s wins, Isla Clements won gold in the under-17 high jump, clearing the bar in 1.57m.
Sunday was another glorious day at the closure-threatened stadium with more successes to add to the occasion.
In the 1500m under-17 women’s race, Vics ace Corri McGougan took silver and a new personal best for her 4:43.90 run.

Hide AdIn the men’s under-17 1500m race, Luke Culliton managed to maintain his lead in an exciting sprint finish alongside Fergus Ross from Harmeny AC in 4:09.49, to win his second gold of the weekend.
In the under-15 boys’ 1500m race, Thomas Mitchell won bronze in a time of 4:38.14.
Kirsty Moffat took gold for the under-13 girls’ 200m dash in 29.06 and over in the field events, Josie Anderson took bronze in the under-15 1kg discus throw (18.71m).
Many more Falkirk Vics’ athletes had great success, bagging new personal bests and for some this was their first championship event moving up an age category.
District Championships also took place in Inverness and Kilmarnock over the weekend with over 1,300 athletes taking part in total.
