Maddiston PS nets a new basketball title with primary play-off success

Maddiston Primary School won the RJM Sports Falkirk Primary School Play-Offs at Grangmeouth SC and made it a great double by having already won the 15-16 Falkirk Jump2It title.

Maddiston are Falkirk’s most successful basketball Primary School and showed great skill to overcome Beancross PS in the Play-Off Final ( Beancross having defeated Maddiston in the season’s Conference stages).

In total 21 Falkirk Primary Schools entered and played throughout the regular season in three conferences in a unique Scottish Basketball situation that saw St.Mungos, Denny and Grangemouth High Schools host the matches and provide the table and match officials from senior pupils who took Basketball-Scotland qualifications to help run the League.

The Conference winners were Beancross, Slamannan, and Antonine PS’s. Slammannan took third on Finals day, defeating Antonine who came fourth.

Special mention to John Chalmers from the Grange PS who has played a major part in taking the league forward and also to Maddiston PS coach – Kirsty Muir.
