Juniors get prepared

BOTH Camelon and Dunipace are back in full training as they prepare for the new season which gets underway for both on Saturday, August 11.

Camelon have been the busier of the two sides with several players coming and going from Carmuirs Park.

On their way out are Stevie Menmuir, Graeme McLaren, Ronnie McPherson, Adam Fairweather, Paul Shanks, Davy Hardie and, most recently, Kenny McLellan who has joined Sauchie Juniors.

However, Mariners' boss Allan McGonigal brought his summer signings to five when he transferred strikers Jim Lister and William Baird from Oakley United.

They'll team up with other new boys John Hutchison, Andy Shirra and Steven Kiczynski.

Dunipace Juniors have, as yet, made no new signings but manager Derek Barron has retained the bulk of the players that did so well to towards the end of last season and is hopeful of adding to his squad in the near future.

Before the big kick off, however, the two sides have arranged a series of attractive challenge matches. The first of which will be played this weekend when Camelon Juniors travel to take on Luncarty Thistle.

Meanwhile, at Westfield, Dunipace Juniors will host what promises to be an entertaining four-team tournament spread over both Saturday and Sunday.

On the first day Dunipace play Alloa Athletic at 12.30 p.m. while St Johnstone face Carnoustie Panmure at 3.30 p.m.

Then, on Sunday, the two losers will play at 12.30 p.m. while the two winners will contest the final at 3.30 p.m. Admission is 4 per day for adults, or a bargain 5 for both.
