Fury warm-up with friendly win over champions

Sony Centre Fury’s 22 year-old centre – Ross Gibson hit 22 points as he top scored for the Falkirk side in their pre-season friendly against Scottish Champions Boroughmuir Blaze at the Crags. Gibson’s impressive tally showed stats of 25 minutes, nine from 13 from the field and four from six from the line and confirms the continued ability of the club to produce great home grown players.

Fury produced a barrage of threes in the opening quarter as they shot out to a double digit lead at the end of the first 27-17.

That spell saw the Sony sponsored side hit an incredible seven threes, five of which were consecutive. Teenage star Eddy Leginus who broke into Fury’s starting five last season as a rookie, after seven years in the clubs under age program hit three, and former pro Rocks players Keith Bunyan and Adam Hammerschmidt had two apiece.

Gibson chipped in with four points and Greek forward Greg Foussas two from the line. Fury took the second 18-14 for a 14 pt half time lead, Gibson hitting six points in the quarter with GB squad player Ali Fraser getting into the action with a three and two at the end of the period.

The third saw Blaze claw it back to 10 with bigs Gibson and Fraser sharing 12 of the 15 third quarter points. The third also saw Hammerscmidt foul out just as he had connected on his third three of the game. Captain Keith Bunyan got his third three of the game at the start of the final stanza, but it was inside that Fury took the win with Gibson dominating with a further six personal.

With Gibson on 22 points, Ali Fraser secured a solid double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.

Adam Hammerschmidt who was set to sign for Fury last season is in the process of completing his transfer to Fury and had a solid match with 14 points. Leginus and Bunyan shared 18.
