However, the Shire gaffer stressed that competing for the Lowland League title has to remain their priority this season.

A 5-0 win at the Falkirk Stadium over Highland League side Inverurie Locos earned them their spot in the First Round proper where they will take on East of Scotland Premier Division leaders Tranent Juniors.

Goals from Jamie Dishington, Jordan Tapping, Nicky Low and a Sean brown double secured a convincing progression in to the next round with Ure saying he was surprised to win so comfortably.

He said: “We played really well on Saturday, it was complete team performance from back to front and it was as good as we have played this season.

"We were excellent with the ball and without it we limited their chances - Locos are a decent side and I was expecting a bit more form them.

"They've not played a lot of competitive games, that's maybe had an adverse effect for them but we applied ourselves well and the performance form our boys was pleasing.

"We expected a close game but at the end of the day we were better in ever department which is testament to the boys.

"The Scottish cup is about making memories and I couldn't be prouder of the boys.

"It was a top performance and we deserve all the plaudits we get."

The draw for the first round matches, which take place on Boxing Day, saw Shire drawn away to Tranent who are unbeaten in the league this season and have already claimed a Lowland League scalp in the competition this season as they beat Edinburgh University 2-1 at the weekend.

Despite coming up against a side from the division below and even with teams from SPFL League 2 entering the competition, Ure says it’s a tie he really would rather have avoided.

"It's by far and away one of the most difficult ties we could have got in my opinion.

"They are flying high in their division, It's not a draw that either manager will have looked at and thought it was an easy game, it's a difficult game for both teams.

"You just need to look at all their results, teams in the league below us are proving in every round of this competition they are more than a match for anybody.

"It's food for thought for our boys but they are not stupid, they know you on't sit top of the league below without being a top team.

"If we don't turn up and give 100 percent we'll be out of the cup and that's something we will drum in to the players but we've shown if we do turn up we can compete with everybody.

"Everybody has there own Scottish Cup memories and you want to go out and make more.

"You don't want to be put out be a team below you, you want to go out and get that bit of glamour in a big tie and test yourself.

"You look at the cup runs the likes of BSC Glasgow and other teams from our division have had, our players want to emulate that and play against the best teams in the best stadiums at the best level.

"It's a reward getting to go and play in big games but you only get them if you win, it's straightforward and that's the task ahead."
