Tributes to be paid to tragic Chris Mitchell

Bairns fans and players will pay an emotional tribute to former team-member Chris Mitchell who tragically died last weekend.

The Falkirk team will wear black armbands for tomorrow (Friday) night’s play-off second leg against Hibs and there will be a minute’s applause in memory of the talented player prior to kick off.

The 27-year-old spent five years with the Bairns.

A club spokesman said: “it is with deep regret that Falkirk FC record the sad passing of Academy graduate Chris Mitchell.

“All at Falkirk FC would like to pass on our condolences to Chris’ family and friends at this extremely sad time.”

He joined the Academy from Livingston before making his first team debut in December 2007, going on to make 51 appearances.

In July 2011 he signed for Bradford City where he spent one season before returning to Scotland and joining Queen of the South.

Most recently he was with Clyde but in January announced his retirement to begin a new career,
