The Warriors put in a superb display to a man to beat last season’s runners-up 2-0 and maintain their unbeaten start to the League 2 season.

The performance delighted gaffer Davie Irons who said: “If you were to pick a game and analyse it and say that's how I want my team to play every week this would be it.

"It was a really good performance from start to finish and I’m pleased with every single one of my players.

"We spoke about the Edinburgh City game being a benchmark for us, they were one of the best teams in the league last season and we expected them to be the same this year.

"They had threats but we dealt with them and defended well and I don't think anyone could have complaints about us winning.

"Greig scored the two goals and quite rightly gets the plaudits but the whole front three were excellent – Tommy Muir had his best game for us and Botti caused them all sorts of problems.

"Paddy Martin also had a really assured performance in goals with important saves at key moments and every single player contributed to the win.”

It means that after four games the Warriors sit third in the table, level on points with Stirling Albion in second and just two behind league leaders Queen’s Park.

It’s early days of course but managers across the country have stressed the importance of starting well in this shortened league season and Irons has been no different.

"We spoke about getting off to a good start which is important in a shortened season, not giving yourself too much to do later on.

"With a quarter of the season missing we need to be up there competing, we won't get carried away this early on but eight points out of twelve is a pleasing start and I think there is more to come from us.

"It's a new group of players getting used to each other but we've maintained a decent level of performance and hopefully we can keep that up.”

Stenny’s next League 2 fixture is at home to Annan Athletic on November 21.
