Fortress Ochilview Park was no more as Stenhousemuir’s unbeaten home run in William Hill League One came to an end last Saturday evening in front of the BBC Alba television cameras.

A Luke Rankin winner twelve minutes from time sealed a 1-0 victory for Alloa Athletic, with the loss a first in the league this season in FK5 for the Warriors, who had previously won three on the spin before drawing 0-0 on home turf.

“I feel for the players, we deserved to win the game,” boss Gary Naysmith said. “Somehow we have managed to lose the game. We had the best chances in the first half and then went on to hit the woodwork three/four times.

"We lose the ball from a poor decision and they go on to score – it was a real sucker-punch and we couldn’t get ourselves back into the game. I am frustrated that we didn’t at least take something.

"I call it how it is. I don’t even think we just merited a point, we deserved all three. We had a week’s break going into the game but after ten minutes we looked really good. “But that is football, no doubt at one point this season we will get a victory that isn’t fully merited. I’ve asked the players to forgot about it.

"These type of games, when you dominate but don’t what you deserve are the worst. Nothing needs to be fixed.

"We need to just accept defeat in the right way and we will do that. We’ll analyse the game.”

The Warriors return to league action this Saturday with a home match against Kelty Hearts.
