Greig Spence opened the scoring for the Warriors after 31 minutes and new signing Creag Little made it 2-0 in the second half.

Botti Biabi netted a third on 85 minutes to secure the three points but the home side managed a consolation 89th minute goal through Kyle Docherty.

Overall though, Stenny manager Davie Irons says he was pleased with the performance and to begin the new campaign with three points.

He said: "We've not had a great time at Albion over the past few years so it was good to go out and get what turned out to be quite a comfortable win.

"It’s all about making sure we try to get as good a start as possible so I’ve no complaints after the weekend.

"You always look for positives to come out of the game, losing a late goal took a wee bit of the shine off of it.

"It's a wee bit disappointing but I’m not going to be over critical, the boys applied themselves well and worked hard and deserved the victory.”

Some of those positive for Irons included how well new signings like Creag Little were fitting in to the team and his attacking players getting off to a flying start.

"Creag is a cracking big guy who is a threat from set pieces and is dominant at both ends,” said Irons.

"I was delighted for him to get a goal on his league debut and he was first to admit the ball in from Callum Tapping was superb.

"Our four strikers (Spence, Biabi, Muir and McGuigan) provide us with great options knowing we could start with any pair or three if we decide to go with that.

"The quality between the four of them is really good, previously we didn't have options on the bench but now we do and it's a real positive. It means there's competition.

"That's two in two for Botti after scoring at Edinburgh City in the Betfred Cup so his confidence is building and then it was a great combination between Greig Spence and Tommy Muir and a good finish from Spence and Tommy's work rate and influence was phenomenal.”

Next up for Stenny is their first home league game as Stirling Albion make the trip to Ochilview this Saturday on the back of a credible 0-0 draw at home to title favourites Queen’s Park.

"I can’t speak for Kevin (Rutkiewicz) but at the start of the season everyone was and still is tipping Queen’s Park for the league so I'm sure from Stirling’s point of view they were happy with that point.

"Whatever league you're playing in there's no easy games and you have to prepare in the right manner and we hope for a similar performance as we got at Albion.

“I'd expect, judging by their recruitment, they'll be aiming for the top end of the table same as us so it will be a tough game.”
