Fraser Eddington grabbed a late winner to seal three points for Stenhousemuir.

The home side began the game at a high tempo and Colin McMenamin sliced over for the Warriors from the right edge of the box after an excellent sweeping move down the flank

Brown Ferguson’s side was given a fright when ex-Stenny defender Alan Lithgow headed wide from 10 yards off a Nicolas Sumsky corner in the 27th minute and the former Warrior nearly went one better in the 32nd minute, but his diving header was brilliantly saved by Jamie Barclay at full stretch.

Three minutes from the break the home side took the lead when Alan Cook fired high into the net after an Allan Smith header had been blocked out to him on the angle of the six yards box, but the Diamonds took only five minutes of the second half to level, Sean Chrighton heading a Nicolas Sumsky free-kick beyond the helpless Barclay.

Airdrie were on top for a long period after that, but as the half wore on it became frantic and after visiting sub Bryan Prunty clipped into Barclay’s arms from close range and Cook saw a good effort deflected wide at the other end home sub Fraser Eddington raced on to a through ball to poke the winner past Parry in the 89th minute.
