Darren Smith was one of the best players on the park against Rangers, but after missing a sitter that might have proved the winner, he admitted: “I really thought I’d scored. I took my eye off the ball, but honestly, I can’t really remember how it happened - I’m in a daze.
“It was a great move and would have been a terrific goal if it had happened and I am just gutted.
“We worked really hard the full game and contained them well, but I missed our chance and they took theirs, so….
“I’m devastated because we worked really hard today and deserved more than we got.
“However, we have another cup tie against Annan on Saturday so maybe if I score I might be able to forget that one.
Manager Martyn Corrigan said, “Annan are a good team who have been going well so we know it won’t be easy.
“After losing to Rangers on Tuesday night though, this is another cup tie and a good opportunity for the lads to come right back.”
