Stenhousemuir 2 Cowdenbeath 3: End to end affair

A late Lewis Milne goal was enough for Cowdenbeath at Ochilview as the Blue Brazil rallied back to record their first win in eight against a below-par Stenhousemuir.

The first-half was an uneventful tale to say the least with neither side able to break the deadlock in a match largely dominated by the defenders.

But everything seemed to change after the interval with a turgid match turning into one of the most end-to-ends occasions any football fan would be likely to see.

Cowden took the early second-half initiative when Ross Caldwell calmly slotted home after an error by the Stenny rearguard.

The lead was shortly doubled minutes later when a precise Dean Brett threaded pass was toe poked in by Declan Byrne. Again a very soft goal for Brown Ferguson’s side to concede.

Stenny soon fought back in front of their own support through the talismanic Colin McMenamin – the 35 year old twice nodding into the net to stun the visitors and draw the Warriors level.

But unfortunately for the Stenny support, the equaliser seemed to bring Colin Nish’s side back to life with substitute Milne tucking away a terrific winner for the Blue Brazil.
