“Sean has been at the club two years now, this season he started the in the first league cup tie, started the next game against Partick, and then picked up quite a bad hamstring injury which meant he missed the next 12 games,” PFA Scotland Manager of the Year McGlynn explained.
“By that time the team was up and running, and you’re not going to change the defence when it’s doing so well, and Sean found it difficult to get back in the team. There came a spell after the turn of the year where we started to do a bit of rotation and Sean got himself back in and ended up starting nine out of the last ten games.
“In that period, he impressed us enough that he felt he deserved to be offered a contract as he took the opportunity very well in that period of time. He slotted in at left centre back as well as in his natural position at left back, and when we’re looking forward to next season, we always need players who have that versatility in them.

Mackie is now the tenth Falkirk star to sign an extension from the invincibles team.
