Veteran players Conor Sammon and Morgaro Gomis head up the list while Scott Mercer, Josh Todd, Robbie Leitch, Akeel Francis, Aidan Laverty and Jay Cantley will also not be returning next season.

The Bairns announced the news earlier today and said: “The Club wishes to place on record its thanks for their efforts at Falkirk FC and wish them well for the future.

"We remain in discussion with several players about their future and will keep supporters updated in due course.”

34-year old Republic of Ireland international Sammon joined the club in the summer of 2019 as a high profile acquisition for the Bairns, only recently relegated to League 1, after spells with Wigan Athletic, Derby County, Hearts and Kilmarnock among many others during his career.

He netted four goals in 23 league appearances last season.

Fellow full international Gomis, who won two caps for Senegal during his career, signed for Falkirk in the same transfer window after his second spell with Dundee United came to an end.

Midfielder Todd departs after spending the latter half of last season on loan at Ayr United while former Queen of the South full-back Mercer leaves after just one season at the Falkirk Stadium.

Leitch, Francis, Laverty and Cantley all leave after playing only bit parts last season.
