McCracken still taking one game at a time as Falkirk look to finish first third of league season unbeaten

Falkirk co-manager David McCracken says going unbeaten in the opening third of this shortened League 1 season will be a massive achievement but they will continue to just take things one game at a time.

The Bairns have racked up six wins and two draws in their opening eight matches and will face the only side they’ve yet to come head-to-head with this weekend as Airdrieonians visit The Falkirk Stadium.

He said: "It's a big achievement but we don't look too far ahead.

"It's one game at a time, that's exactly how we've looked at it since the start of the season.

"It's good we're still unbeaten but we have to keep doing the same things, working hard defensively on our shape and with the ball, if we want to keep it up."

The Diamonds come in to Saturday’s game in a run of poor form without a win in three matches.

However McCracken is still aware despite potentially being low in confidence that Ian Murray’s side have players who can hurt them including November’s League 1 Player of the Month Thomas Robert.

"Their form isn't great just now but we've been doing analysis on them and we know they have a lot of threats and different areas where they can get goals from.

"Their confidence won't be great just now and we need to make sure we take advantage of that.

"He (Robert) is getting a bit of decent press at the moment and he's a strength we need to take care of but they have plenty of other threats too.”
