The 22-year old was knocked unconscious after a collision with an opposing player and was taken to hospital before being released later that night.

Warriors boss Davie Irons confirmed McCracken would be out for a few weeks in line with protocols surrounding head injuries but that he was confident he would make a quick and full recovery.

He said: “He was released from hospital on Saturday night with a concussion.

"He will be out for a couple of weeks but thankfully it's nothing more serious and we're confident he will recover.”

At the time it seemed that the injury was the cause for the game being abandoned but Irons confirmed that it was down to part of the pitch being frozen.

"The game wasn't abandoned because of the injury, it was because the stand side of the pitch was rock hard.

"I was a bit surprised it got the go ahead and as the game started you could see the players on both sides were concerned about that side of the pitch.

“It was becoming difficult and both sides were commenting that it was difficult and dangerous.

"The game starts, Stirling score so they might be aggrieved but the ref asked us both before making the decision - he took the decision into his hands that it wasn't safe to continue.”

The Warriors now turn their attentions to this weekend where they are due to make the trip north to Balmoor to face Peterhead in the Scottish Cup.

"It's going to be an interesting game,” said Irons.

"Peterhead obviously have home advantage and are playing at a higher level so we expect a difficult game.

"We will go up there, prepare as best we can and hopefully cause them a few problems.

"It's a good facility up there and it's always been a good pitch that's well looked after so it's not the worst place to go this time of year, weather permitting.

"On paper, it should be a decent game and we have a decent record home and away against Peterhead, they're a team we do reasonably well against and the play-off win is still fresh in a lot of our boy's memories.”
