Lowland League East round-up: East Stirlingshire hit Dunipace for three
East Stirlingshire got back to winning ways in the Scottish Lowland Football League East last Saturday after a 3-0 victory away to second-bottom Dunipace.
A brace from Kai Wilson and a Chris Ogilvie finish secured the three points for Callum Tapping’s side, who had lost out to Tranent and Bonnyrigg Rose in their previous two league outings. They now sit ninth, having collected 10 points from their opening six games.
The ‘Shire had also been knocked out of the South Challenge Cup at the first round stage on penalties by lower-league Newtongrange Star following a 1-1 draw at Ochilview Park.
And player-boss Callum Tapping was delighted to see his side get back to winning ways ahead of a free weekend.

He told the Falkirk Herald: “To go and win 3-0 at Dunipace is a result you have to be really happy with. And especially the way we did it. I was delighted to score three goals and get a clean.
"We scored at important times which was pleasing. After the second goal, we were really comfortable. The nicest thing for me was the clean sheet – we didn’t get enough of them last season.
"That’s us got two now, which doesn’t seem like much, but it is a big thing for me. It’s an improvement. Our objective was to improve on last season in general and we are doing that.
"Reaching 10 points is a good marker for us, it took us until mid-March last season to reach 10 points. It’s such a tough league but we are competing and growing.

"It was nice to get more boys back from injury too, and I think that told with our attacking performance. We carried a real threat going forward.”
Dunipace boss Danny Smith meanwhile admitted that individual mistakes cost his team dearly, with a quick-fire double at the start of the second half deciding the match.
He told club media: “First and foremost, East Stirling deserved their three points. Both teams had half chances in the first period. They go one up via a deflection. Martin France has a big chance before half time to get us back in it. It was a tight game.
"Second half, we are trying to get the next goal which was crucial. What happened to us after that was what happens at that this level if you make individual mistakes.
"We’ve gifted two goals early on and then the game is over. And it was all self-inflicted. They capitalised on our mistakes. We didn’t give ourselves a chance of getting a result.”
The newly-promoted DCL Westfield side sit second-bottom, having picked up just a point from their opening five outings.
Bo’ness United racked up a 5-2 win away from home at bottom club University of Stirling last Saturday in their Lowland League East fixture.
The BU, who sit eighth with a better goal difference than the ‘Shire, battered the students with a Kieran Mitchell brace and goals from Robbie Murdoch, Roan Fitzpatrick and Shaun Brown putting Stuart Hunter’s side five goals up on the hour mark.
Speaking to club media, boss Hunter said: “I was delighted at 4.20pm but not as happy at 5.40pm. It hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for us so overall I have to be delighted.
"But we gave them two goals back after being five ahead. And the feeling in the changing room was one of disappointment because they didn’t deserve to score considering our opening hour.
"They didn’t threaten us. We gifted them two goals. It sounds negative but we want to drive good standards at this club. To come and Stirling Uni and score five goals is something that isn’t done very often.”
Bo’ness United now travel to Pumpherston this Saturday in the second round of the South Challenge Cup. Dunipace are visiting East of Scotland opposition, travelling to Burntisland Shipyard.
