The Bairns play Alloa on Saturday before a trip to Dumbarton and wins, or even avoiding defeats, will be enough to put Peter Houston’s side in the Championship’s top play-off position with just a couple of months of the season remaining.
The Hibbee’s treble of defeats – to Morton, Dumbarton and Queen of the South – has seen Falkirk reduce the gap in the table and now the opportunity is there for the Bairns to seize second place, with Alan Stubbs’ side out of league action owing to their League Cup and Scottish Cup commitments.
