Victory for the Warriors would move them nine points ahead of Brechin, who currently occupy the automatic relegation spot, with just four games to play.

And Stenny boss Brown Ferguson is optimistic his side can maintain complete a season’s unbeaten record against Brechin as they look to build on the confidence taken from yet another late, late show against Forfar.

Colin McMenamin’s 88th minute header means Stenhousemuir have now earned 13 points - more than a third of their season’s total - with goals in the last 10 minutes which have turned defeats into draws or draws into victories.

Of those 13 points, 10 have resulted from goals in the 88th minute or later and while Ferguson admits he would prefer to see his side kill teams off earlier when they get in front, he is delighted with their willingness to keep going until the final whistle.

He said: “The number of points we have achieved with goals in the last minutes of games has been incredible and it’s a really positive attribute to have.

“It was a very, very important three points against Forfar. We’ve been on a horrendous run but we got a great reaction from the players in training in the build-up to the game and they showed great spirit.

“Hopefully we can build on that performance and take confidence from it into the Brechin game.

“We are unbeaten against Brechin this season but the games have been tight. They lost at Dunfermline on Saturday but won four our of four before that so they have been on a good run and it will be another difficult match.

“But if we can win it will put us nine points ahead of Brechin with four games left so we’d be in a strong position and would also move closer to the teams above us.”

Ferguson has added to his squad by bringing in Hearts midfielder Angus Beith on an emergency 28-day loan.

The 20-year-old went straight into the team against Forfar and his addition will give Ferguson extra options as he waits for Kieran Millar to make a full recovery from injury.
