Kingsley makes Scotland debut

But Falkirk’s Academy has another graduate grace the international stage.

Stephen Kingsley, now of Swansea City, was a second-half substitute for Gordon Strachan’s side in the 3-0 friendly defeat to France in Metz at the weekend.

The defender, who left Falkirk two years ago, had made his full English Premier League debut earlier this year at the Emirates against Arsenal, and was again pitched in against world-class opposition for his national team bow.

Kingsley progressed through the Bairns Academy and his father Tony is a coach at the Forth Valley Football Academy which incoporates the youth structures for the Bairns as well as Stenhousemuir and East Stirlingshire.

Another Falkirk connection in the Scotland squad was goalkeeper Jack Hamilton, who is from Denny and has played with local sides Stenhousemuir and East Stirlingshire. He’s currently contracted to Hearts.
