Falkirk co-manager David McCracken says it’s “massive” that his team went top of League One with Tuesday night’s comfortable 3-0 success at Dumbarton.

McCracken said: “Over the course of the game and the work we put into it, we deserved the win.

"Dumbarton had opportunities but we defended well when we needed to.

"They’ve come up with a couple of injuries as well which isn’t great for them but it kind of helped us in the course of the game.

"We’re really pleased to get another clean sheet.

"It was a massive game tonight coming off the game at the weekend.

"For us to go top of the league, albeit we don’t play at the weekend and everyone else will play but it puts other teams in a position where they’ve got to win now. We’re delighted.”

Tuesday’s result sets Falkirk up perfectly for facing Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers in a Betfred Cup second round cracker at the Falkirk Stadium on Sunday.

McCracken said: “It’s a massive game going into the weekend. It’s an opportunity to come up against a team that’s probably the best in the country just now the way they’re playing.

"It’s an opportunity for the boys to come up against a higher level of player.

"They’re the games you want to play in.

"It’s a wee break away from the league but obviously the league is our full focus.

"We’re looking forward to the weekend. The boys will rest up and then we’ll prepare for a few days before it."
