The margin of the scoreline may be narrow, but that probably fails to tell the true story of what was a 'never in doubt' victory for the Bairns.

They were better all over the park, the only frustrations being that they shipped a sloppy goal and failed to bag another two or three themselves.

Clyde have enjoyed some success over Falkirk in recent times but never realistically looked like doing so on Tuesday night.

Falkirk raced into an early lead shortly before the 15 minute mark when Aidan Keena muscled his way into the box and lashed a terrific strike beyond Matej Vajs.

It should have been the platform for the hosts to go on and win the game comfortably but, to their credit, Danny Lennon's men responded well and were level within minutes.

A hopeful ball over the top towards Goodwillie sent the forward scampering clear on goal behind the Falkirk defence and he made no mistake.

The home side were dealt a huge blow on 35 minutes when Keena came out worse in a challenge with Tom Lang.

The striker was clearly in pain as he writhed on the pitch and, after a long spell of treatment on the park, made way or Akeel Francis.

It took the wind out of the sails of the remainder of a half which petered out.

Falkirk had played well in the first half but hadn't been able to shrug Clyde off.

Lee Miller admitted post match there had been one or two words of 'encouragement' towards the players at half time, and they proved within seconds of the re-start they'd been paying attention.

Robbie Leitch was bundled over inside the box by a rash Barry Cuddihy challenge giving ref Lloyd Wilson no option but to point to the spot.

Up stepped Callumn Morrison who made no mistake.

The goal really gave the hosts a boost and they looked more than comfortable for the remainder of the half.

The Falkirk management team will be delighted to see forwards Keena and Morrison get on the scoresheet but equally as pleased with the performance of fellow frontman Anton Dowds.

Dowds maybe didn't get a goal, but didn't everything else to help his side, chasing and pressurising the Clyde defence constantly.

Francis had a late chance to make it 3-1 but was unable to get his shot away.

But with the Bairns defence absolutely rock solid, it didn't matter, and the three points were won in comfort.
