Bo'ness United Juniors bid to go senior boosted by considerable online support

News that the existing Bo’ness United senior side – who play in the Lowland League – could soon have direct competition from their feeder club – was read by thousands of people with many backing a move being planned due to the disbanding of the Juniors’ East Region Scottish Junior Football Association Premiership South league.

“I would say that the outpouring of support we’ve had is down to the acknowledgement of the development of the club since arriving in Bo’ness 18 months ago,” Bo’ness United Juniors secretary Derek Oliver told the Journal and Gazette.

"And to see all the hard work go to waste would be unfortunate. Continuing growing the club would require us to move to the East of Scotland League.

"It was pleasantly surprising for me to see that the majority of social media comments on the Journal article were positive.

"What I was expecting was: ‘Oh, you can’t have two senior teams in Bo’ness’ but the majority of comments were: ‘Why not?’

"It would be good to have two teams playing in Bo’ness and having a fixture to go and watch – as a member of the Bo’ness public –every Saturday. Whether it be Bo’ness United or the new senior club.”

The decision on whether or not to apply to go senior would be made by later this week.
