The Newtown Park outfit eventually ran out 3-0 winners at home on Scottish Lowland League Duty, with the goals coming from Zander Miller, Lennon Walker and Lewis McArthur.

He told the Falkirk Herald: “We lacked a wee bit of belief and confidence in the first half, especially considering how early we scored the opening goal. Gretna were pretty good at moving the ball around and we had to work hard to get it back off them.

“Our two goals came from pressing them when they had the ball in those situations and that was pleasing but I did feel we lacked a wee bit of confidence to really take the game to them. Why? I am not so sure and I suppose that has been the question for us all season long.

“In the second half, I felt we were much better and I was pleased with that. We were the team trying to move the ball around with a purpose and it was a much better showing overall even if we only scored one goal. I think at the front end of the pitch, we have really struggled to find that confidence and belief. We haven't scored at the right moments in matches.

“We had a spell of four games that we won on the bounce fairly recently but lately it just hasn’t fell for us. The guys are working hard but I think they know that it is a mix of letting themselves down on a couple of occasions, but it has also just been down to a bit of misfortune.

“In certain games we really did deserve more out of them and it was not down to the players efforts that we didn’t take a better result out of them.”

Little also confirmed he is happy to take charge of the team for the foreseeable future if need be. He added: “I spoke to Max about it and I said to him I could either stay to help out the club and make sure they aren’t alone, or I could also go at that point. But Max was very happy for me to stay on and help the team for now.

“He was a big part of this club for a long time and of course he really cares about Bo’ness. For me at the moment I am just working as normal. We haven’t changed much from what we did before.”
