Former Falkirk coach Tony Docherty will aim to help Forfar in their battle against relegation from League 1

The 50-year old spent a season with East Stirlingshire as a player and was assistant manager to Ian McCall during the now Partick Thistle gaffer’s stint in charge of the Bairns from 2002 to 2003.

For the past eight years he has worked as assistant manager at Aberdeen alongside Derek McInnes until the duo parted company with the Dons last month.

Following the departure of Stuart Malcolm and his coaching team from their positions at Station Park, Forfar turned to Gary Irvine to take over temporary charge from the former Stenhousemuir defender.

After lat Saturday’s defeat to East Fife, the Loons acted quickly to bring in Docherty to help provide Irvine with some much needed exerience, something Docherty certainly brings having coached Aberdeen in the Premiership and Europe over the best part of the last decade.
