Ferguson: Next three games can shape Stenhousemuir's season

Airdrie currently sit fourth, in the final play-off place, four points ahead of seventh-placed Warriors.

And with games against Albion Rovers and Cowdenbeath, the two sides above and below them, in the next two weeks the Stenny boss says his side have everything to play for.

He said: “Our target remains at 10 points per quarter but if we reach that ahead of schedule then we can reassess things.

“Our next three games are all against sides round about us in the league and could have a vital bearing on the rest of our season. It’s a big challenge but one we are looking forward to.”

“We can take confidence from last Saturday because although Dunfermline were the better team we did well and I didn’t think 3-0 wasn’t a fair reflection on us.

“In the first half Dunfermline had a lot of the ball, as we expected them to, but we looked a threat on the break and had one or two chances.

“But there’s no doubt losing the first goal just before half-time was a turning point and while it was a well-worked goal from their point of view it was a poor one for us to lose.

“They then scored again early in the second half at a time in the game when we we down to 10 men because of an injury to Kieran Millar.

“So we didn’t get the break but as far as the overall performance is concerned we shouldn’t be too disappointed.

Ferguson also wished Graham Bowman a speedy recovery after the on-loan Falkirk ’keeper suffered an Achilles injury which will keep him out for the rest of the season.

He said: “In the two games he played for us he showed he has the ability to be a top ’keeper. We wish him all the best and I’d also like to place on record my thanks to Falkirk for loaning him to us.”
