Falkirk football players set for UEFA Champions League quarter final with Wolfsburg

Midfielders Sam Kerr and Leanne Ross face Wolfsburg in the top European football tournament with Glasgow City tonight.

Club captain Ross is in Scott Booth’s squad for tonight’s one-off match in Spain.

So is Scotland cap Kerr, who grew up in Falkirk and played locally for Central Girls Academy before being snapped up by the Scottish women’s football giants.

She signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers Ladies earlier this year but remains with the Scottish champions for the European campaign. She’ll follow fellow Falkirk-trained player Nicola Docherty from City to Auchenhowie next season.

First though are the German side who are one of seven professional sides in the last eight. The Scottish champions are the only non-full-time squad to reach the stage and, as always, are captained by veteran LeRo, from Stenhousemuir.

The match in San Sebastian will be shown live on BBCAlba with kick-off at 5pm. The winners will play a semi-final with Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.
