More than 90 per cent of applications for the vacant Falkirk manager’s job will be rendered unsuccessful this week after the club began to draw up a shortlist of candidates.
Over 40 CVs have been received and the anticipated shortlist will be finalised by the weekend.
The names of the fortunate four are still unknown, with club sources remaining tight-lipped after last week’s speculation. No further names have been suggested or linked with the post, however arrangements will be made over the next few days for interviews to be held next week.
Fan opinion seems to back Russell Latapy who made a public declaration of interest last week, but sources close to other names mentioned in relation to the post – Martin Rennie, David Weir and Allan Moore – have cast doubt on their inclusions.
As the boss hunt goes on Alex Smith and Stevie Crawford have continued to oversee the first team ahead of matches with Hamilton and Dunfermline in the coming week.
As The Falkirk Herald went to press last night (Wednesday) the Bairns were preparing to release a statement which will be carried on www.falkirkherald.co.uk.
