Tom Taiwo has signed a new deal with Falkirk.

The tireless midfielder has extended his stay with the Bairns by a year, to summer 2017.

Taiwo has made 49 appearances since joining from Hibs and has scored three times – including a double against Dunfermline at East End Park.

He said: “The manager said to me that because of my hard work and my dedication, not just to the team but around the place, he’s happy to offer me a new deal and that I deserve it.

“That’s a real positive thing, there’s not been a lot of positives so far in my career in terms of re-signing at clubs and it’s nice to feel wanted.

“I’m over the moon, this club is a place where you turn up every week and you know you’re going to play the game in the right way. You know there’s going to be passion and a real style to the way that we take to the pitch. There’s a demand on the club to perform in a way the fans deem acceptable. Along with that sometimes comes a pressure, however here it’s more of a feeling that if you try to do the right things then you’ll be rewarded.”

Manager Peter Houston added: “I’m pleased we’ve been able to secure Tom on a longer deal.

“He works very hard on his game in training and is passionate about the club. I’ve been impressed with the way his performances so far and am sure he will keep up that consistency and only get better as the season goes on.”
