With so little space to operate it wasn’t a match for the flair players, but Falkirk still did the business and showed their mettle in the defeat of Alloa. It was time to show a different side to their game, and they did.
*** Peter Grant
It was just the day for the centre-half - commanding the area and heading everything in sight. Steered Paul watson and the full-backs through the game with typical efficient organising and repelled everything that Alloa launched up the park with no fuss.
** John Baird
Another goal - 15 in total - for the striker, and a typically tireless perfromance. With high balls the order of the day it wasn’t best suited for Baird yet he still found the net. Constant running and movement gave Alloa’s defence little peace and his team-mates plenty of options.
* Aaron Muirhead
Nice and steady from the now regular right-back. Good understanding with Alston ahead of him and utilised his height with the ball in the air so often.
