He will now take part in the group’s first discussions on Monday afternoon, alongside Bill Clark from Raith Rovers - who were awarded first position in League One after the vote – and Jacqui Low of Partick Thistle who finished bottom of the Championship despite having played a game less than their relegation rivals.

Dave McKinnon (Morton) Jim Brown (Edinburgh City), John Sheran (Cove Rangers), John Nelms (Dundee), Lachlan Cameron (Ayr United), Paul Hetherington (Airdrie) and Gerry Crawley (Queen’s Park) make up the rest of the group.

Les Gray said: “I am delighted that so many clubs have come forward to support the league restructuring process. I am looking forward to a positive debate.”

Ann Budge added: “The importance of league restructuring is understood by all. It is vital that we all work together to find solutions for the benefit of the game as a whole.”
