Mitchell has overseen many signings from down south this summer, with 17 new players in total joining the Bairns.

Just four games into the Championship season and four days after transfer deadline day, though, ties have been cut between the two parties.

Falkirk FC released a statement on the matter on Tuesday morning, writing: "We can confirm that as part of the managerial change within the club Richard Mitchell's Scouting Agreement has been terminated.

"Assistant Manager Darren Taylor will take a strong lead on recruitment and both he and Ray will work closely in identifying targets moving forward."

McKinnon had just four players on his books when he took over at Morton earlier this summer, and has formed a very strong Championship side.

The 48-year-old will have to work with a squad of players that are not his at Falkirk, having got underway in his new role yesterday.

Falkirk also confirmed the departure of Gordon Young, Paul Hartley's assistant manager, and Thomas Ritchie.

Ray McKinnon will hold his first media conference as Bairns boss this afternoon.
